Home Depot has earmarked one million CFLs for giveaway in observance of Earth Day. (The offer is open to U.S. customers in the 48 contiguous states.) The company says its promotion will result in a $12 million saving in annual energy costs, reduce almost 200 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, and offset the emissions equivalent of over 70,000 automobiles.
